The Department Of Sociology has been established in 2001.The Department OF Sociology from the time of its establishment has been trying to enrich the knowledge of students regarding the society .The Sociology offers explanation of social experiences in the society .It enables people understand interplay of different social forces and consequent outcome. The Department has played a pioneering role in the promotion of social science research in general and in the development of sociology.

Father of Sociology

AUGUST COMTE: Born January 19, 1798, Montpellier, France—died September 5, 1857, Paris, French philosopher known as the founder of sociology and of positivism. Comte gave the science of sociology its name and established the new subject in a systematic fashion.

Objective

1.To create interest to study social problems.

2.To maintain the social and cultural values of Indian Society.

3.To proved higher education in sociology to rural ad backward Student.

4.To compare Indian society with help of western sociological concepts and theories.

5.To promote students for competitive exams.

SWOC Analysis

Strength

Faculty Of the department is well qualified and they give the latest information about the social activity and Society the student.
The increasing percentage of girl in the department so we can give more so culture knowledge to them.

Weekness

Other university have two permanent teaching post for sociology but in this university only one permanent post for the subject therefore one permanent faculty having more burden of the teaching work load.

Opportunities

Scope of starting varies certificate courses in the general study, women empowerment and tribal community study center.

Challenges

  • 1.To maintain the subject scope.
  • 2.To update the career oriented syllabus based on competitive exams.

Future Plan

  • 1.To take initiatives for setting up "Women Study Center".
  • 2.To take initiatives for setting up "Tribal Study Center".
  • 3.To Organize National Conferences/Seminars on emerging issues in Women Empowerment.
